Get Fitter, Fast – The Don’t

March 12th, 2010

Don’t

Don’t use the same footwear
Shoes wear out with regular, so change them every three months or so. The treads might be intact but the cushioning or support may not, so you risk injury by continuing to wear inadequate shoes.

Don’t copy others
Beginners usually have no ideas what exercises best suit them and will observe and follow what others do. The danger is that the exercises may be too advanced for them and they risk injury.

Don’t attempt too many exercises at once
Let your body learns to perform a few moves properly – like squats or push ups – before adding new ones. It takes time for your body to adapt to new moves.

Don’t overtrain
Training hard and long all the time causes the central nervous system to break down. To get fitter and stronger, give your body a chance to recuperate. Walk or swim twice a week at a light pace and if you train everyday, ; limit your workouts to 45 minutes each time.

Don’t be dependent on numbers
If you judge a good workout by what the heart rate monitor or calories burner says, it’s a sign you’re not enjoying your workout. It’s time to listen to your body instead, and never push through pain just because you haven’t clocked enough time on the treadmill.

Get Fitter, Fast

March 10th, 2010

Whether you’re new to fitness or work out regularly, these fitness do’s and don’ts help you get the most from your workout and prevent injury.

It’s easy to go into auto and adopt sloppy exercise habits. Improve your performance by focusing on deep breathing (three slow counts) to draw more oxygen – and energy – into your body. Always keep your abs tight and stand tall.

Dos

Do maintain good posture and breathing

Do exercises you dislike
These help build a stronger body and prevent muscle imbalance or injury from overuse or neglect. Hate stretching or ab crunches? Fit them twice a week into your routine – and feel the difference.

Do challenge yourself
At some point, you’ll get bored with the same old workouts, and your body won’t respond as well. To stay motivated, sign up for a marathon or dance class or mix your workouts. For example, alternate a fast 30-second run on an incline with a slower three-minute run on a flat surface.

Do be consistent
Sticking to a weekly exercise routine is the key to getting and staying in shape. Most people start out determined to lose weight or tone up, but later find excuses to avoid exercise. Like daily showers, it’s important to make exercise a part of your life if you want results.

Do start slow
If your body is not used to exercise, this will help prevent injury. Brisk walk instead of run. Running puts tremendous strain on knees and ankles, and your joints aren’t strong enough to handle sudden and intense impact.

Do eat for energy
Three balanced meals, two light snacks like yogurt and fruit make a good meal plan. The worst thing is to exercise when you are hungry. You end up light-headed, weak and unable to perform. People think exercising on an empty stomach will burn fat, but it can make you lose muscles, too.

Vitamins for your bad habits

March 8th, 2010

Some vices are hard to kick but here are shortcuts to minimise its negative impact.

Vice
You skip your greens. You’re missing out on fibre, folate and vitamins A and K.

Quick fix
Tak a multivitamin that provides vitamins A, B6 and B12, and eat fruits like mangoes and cantaloupes for added nutrients.

Vice
You don’t like milk. You won’t get enough calcium in your bones to keep osteoporosis at bay.

Quick fix
Eat calcium-rich food like eggs, lean meat and almonds. Vitamins D and K will also aid in keeping your bones strong and healthy.

Vice
You love to booze. If you’re a heavy drinker, the levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that contributes to heart diease, may elevate.

Quick fix
Take supplements with folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12, which aid in reducing homocysteine levels.

Is your internal ocean Healthy or Polluted?

March 5th, 2010

Our body is a living ‘ocean’ that encompasses all our body cells that enable us to live.

Our body has over 60 trillion single cell ‘citizens’ surrounded by an internal sea – the body’s living ‘ocean’ (internal terrain). It plays a vital role in:

  • Delivering nutrients
  • Removing wastes and toxins
  • Being a medium for all biochemical reactions
  • Mineralising and pH balancing
  • Cellular communication
  • Neurological messaging
  • ‘Reading’ the external environment

And just like the real sea, if we thrash it with junk – i.e. unhealthy lifestyle, bad food choices and environmental stresses, this ‘ocean’ will become a harmful wasteland. Don’t drown in ‘pollution’. Treat your ‘ocean’ with care.

Kington Life Plasma revitalises your internal ocean environment and helps maintain your body’s vital equilibrium.

  • Provides minerals and trace elements in full spectrum and balanced composition
  • Contains 83 types of bioavailable mineral & trace elements
  • ‘Pre-digested’ organic minerals by zooplankton for easy assimilation by the body

Are you drinking water or chewing rock?

March 3rd, 2010

Would you consider scraping the mineral deposits from inside taps and eating or drinking it to enhance your mineral intake? The answer is obviously no. These minerals are in an inorganic form and cannot be properly digested by our bodies. Consuming these may even lead to kidney stones in the long run.

Similarly, the minerals in drinking water are inorganic as they are dissolved stones. The only way to remove these contaminants is with a water purification technology. That’s why Reverse Osmosis is used worldwide by the food and beverage industry, because it produces pure water without any contaminants, including minerals, heavy metals and even miniscule particles like pharmaceutical drugs.

Bio Pure – The Only Trusted Brand That Can Remove Virtually All Contaminants in Water.
